I am an aspiring teacher with a focus on supporting students through their hardest years. I believe I have a calling to work with children. From a young age I was looking after younger siblings, friend’s siblings and tried making them all my students! At the age of 14 I picked up a part time job as a gymnastics coach and spent 4 years coaching children. Being a confused and rebellious teenager meant that I dropped out of sixth form to work full time. After many years working in the hair industry, my desire to teach started again when supporting apprentices in salon. I then moved on to teach the NVQ Award in Hairdressing at Headmasters Academy in Richmond. It was there that I gained my Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Last year, I changed career and applied with an agency to be a Youth Mentor. My first placement was at Twickenham School as a Teaching Assistant which wasn't really my plan. However, I quickly fell in love with the school and the job role and so when the Head Teacher asked me to stay on full time with the school, I happily accepted. Being only 1 of few TA's with a SEN register of about 150 (and growing) there was much work to do and many students to support. I then changed job roles to work as a teaching assistant in a Primary School closer to home. Unfortunately, because of the Corona Virus outbreak, the school let go of my position alongside other agency staff. Over the Year in Schools, I have been privileged to be trained up in many skills and given the opportunity to lead on interventions with Mathematics and Literacy. Below I have listed my skill set within the SEN/Teaching Role.

Friendly, Engaging, Approachable, flexible, Adaptable. I went travelling to South America after completing my studies. This was crucial to my development as a teacher. It enabled me to become more open minded, appreciate different cultures and exposed me to people from different backgrounds. I believe that as a result of these experiences it will enable me to have a greater empathy and understanding of the pupils and their parents individual needs. I also gained a greater interest in the environment. In particular I learnt more about environmental exploitation and changes. I feel this will be very beneficial when teaching Science, Geography and RE.
